Kodak Enters into Agreement for Proposed Sale of Document Imaging
Business to Brother Industries, Ltd.
Eastman Kodak Company has reached agreement with Brother Industries, Ltd., for the proposed sale of certain assets of its Document
Imaging business for a cash purchase price of approximately $210 million, subject to certain price adjustments at closing. In addition,
Brother will assume deferred service revenue liability of the business, which totaled approximately $67 million as of December 31, 2012.
Kodak’s Document Imaging business provides a comprehensive portfolio of scanners, capture software and services to enterprise
customers. Brother is a leading global manufacturer of laser, label and multi-function printers, as well as fax machines and sewing
machines.
Consummation of the transaction with Brother is subject to court approval and a marketing period in which Kodak may seek to obtain a
higher or better offer for the business, alone or in combination with other businesses, including through a court-approved auction.
Kodak’s ability to continue to explore alternatives during the marketing period will ensure that Kodak obtains the maximum value for
the business. Consummation is also subject to satisfying customary closing conditions, including required regulatory approvals.
“This proposed sale is another key step in Kodak’s path to emergence – it moves us closer to realizing our strategic vision for Kodak’s
future,” said Antonio M. Perez, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “A sale to Brother, should they prevail, would represent an
excellent outcome for Document Imaging’s customers, partners and employees.”
Under the terms of the agreement, Kodak will seek U.S. Bankruptcy Court approval of the bidding procedures at a hearing in late April
and is targeting final court approval of a transaction in June.
“Document Imaging has many differentiating strengths, including an outstanding global customer base, award-winning software and
hardware solutions, strategic reseller partners and a comprehensive service and support network,” Perez said.
Dolores Kruchten, President of Document Imaging, said that Kodak will work throughout the sale process to ensure a smooth
transition for customers.
“We are pleased that under this agreement with Brother, Document Imaging will continue to strengthen its position as a leader of
information capture and management solutions for enterprise customers,” said Kruchten. “Our valued customers will receive the
highest quality products, world-class customer service and reseller support that have been the hallmarks of our business.”
Consistent with its previously stated goal of restructuring around its Commercial Imaging business, Kodak is continuing its publicly
announced sales process for its Personalized Imaging (PI) business.
Lazard is serving as the financial advisor to Kodak and Sullivan & Cromwell is the lead legal advisor to Kodak in the transaction.

KODAK Scan Station 520EX Offers Integration with BOLT Direct
Software
A new “plug-and-play” scanning solution for Microsoft SharePoint based on the KODAK Scan Station 520EX Platform is now available.
The solution, called BOLT Direct, features onboard SharePoint integration that simplifies how users scan, name, route and index
documents from a single networked device.
“BOLT Direct is an example of how scanner technology from Kodak continues to provide application partners with a platform for
developing solutions that help businesses simplify the user experience by making it easier to capture, manage and retrieve documents
within SharePoint,” said Rod Hughes, General Manager, Software and Solutions for Kodak’s Document Imaging business. “In addition
to the Scan Station 520EX, Kodak is developing an array of solutions that help partners and businesses take full advantage of
SharePoint for document management and workflow processes.”
Business professionals can use BOLT Direct’s network scanning to capture documents directly to SharePoint in real time, which
makes it easier to collect, manage, and share content across business workflows. System administrators can attach the turnkey solution
to their network and go from box to scanning in just minutes.
“Designing BOLT Direct on the KODAK Scan Station 520EX platform has allowed us to focus on providing businesses with
easy-to-deploy “intelligent” scanning to SharePoint. The solution combines robust capture features and superior image quality in a
network scanning device small enough to be deployed just about anywhere,” said Jeff Nelson, Vice President of Bolt Document
Management. “Our application blends seamlessly with Kodak’s functional, easy-to-use LCD display and keyboard interface and
streamlines the document capture and storage process.”
The Scan Station features an integrated LCD touchscreen that displays the BOLT Direct interface, allowing users to log into
SharePoint and access document libraries. Once a library is selected, the associated index fields are displayed and users can name
documents and enter relevant information for enhanced content management. Advanced SharePoint features such as field types
and drop-down pick lists are supported, and users can create new folders directly in SharePoint on the fly.
In addition to integrating with SharePoint, BOLT Direct also integrates directly to LASERFICHE Enterprise Content Management (ECM)
systems. An additional suite of scanning utilities is also bundled within the unit to provide a complete office document solution. The
utilities allow users to scan to print, e-mail, fax or PDF. Scanned documents have the added benefit of full-page optical character
recognition (OCR) on each capture, which enables users to save documents as searchable PDF files. The comprehensive
functionality and advanced imaging features enable users to convert paper documents into digital files for easy distribution,
sharing and collaboration.
As a networked device, the Scan Station 520EX enables multiple users to share access to a solution capable of scanning documents
to email recipients, network locations and other file destinations. Kodak’s Perfect Page Technology delivers automatic image
enhancements that improve accuracy and quality to deliver more efficient results. At up to 45 pages per minute, the device’s
robust handling captures documents in color or black-and-white and supports outstanding productivity with a recommended daily
duty volume rating of up to 3,000 pages per day.
The BOLT Direct solution includes Kodak’s optional premium keyboard and a full one-year advanced unit replacement program. An
optional three-year advanced unit replacement warranty is also available for purchase. The warranty program from KODAK Service
and Support eliminates the need for complicated and expensive warranty service programs frequently associated with other network
attached scanning solutions.

KODAK Capture Pro Software Adds Compatibility for CONTEX
An agreement between Kodak and Contex will allow enterprise organizations to unify information from large-format and standard sized
documents into KODAK Capture Pro Software. The new compatibility between Contex’s wide format scanners and Capture Pro Software
will provide users with a single interface to integrate information from these sources and deliver into databases and EDM/ECM

Group. “This solution demonstrates the broad capabilities of KODAK Capture Pro Software.”
Projects that include both wide format and standard sized documents can pose challenges for enterprise workflows managed by service
bureaus and medium- to large-sized businesses. E-BizDocs, an electronic document management service provider based in Albany, N.Y.,

KODAK Document Viewer Software and KODAK Scan and View Software enable enterprise organizations to use paper documents to
trigger specific workflows, speed up existing processes and add more value to business operations. Web-based software programs
make it easy to find, review, compare, annotate and scan documents from within SharePoint environments. Now, companies can
better manage document-driven workflows such as invoice processing, contract management or new hire on-boarding.
“SharePoint adoption is clearly on the rise, with an estimated 100,000 server installations and 200 million Client Access Licenses to-date,
yet many businesses still search for organizational structure and management tools needed to take full advantage of this powerful
system,” said Tim Mortenson, Worldwide Business Director, Software, Document Imaging, Kodak’s Business Solutions and Services
Group. “Kodak’s new software offerings enable users to more easily find, view and work with documents and metadata uploaded to
SharePoint from any source, including paper documents, files and records.”
KODAK Document Viewer Software embeds an inline document preview function directly within SharePoint. A visual search function
provides full document previews within search results on SharePoint. Document Viewer Software can display document previews in
either thumbnail or full page format and users may zoom in and out or fit the document to the width of screen. Document previews are
especially fast because Kodak’s viewing software doesn’t need to wait for the entire document to be transmitted and has compatibility
with more than 300 file types, allowing users to review virtually any file stored in SharePoint, even if the application associated with the
file is not installed on the user’s computer or workstation.
KODAK Scan and View Software supports document scanning and image enhancement directly within SharePoint. The integrated
document capture functionality makes it an ideal solution for ad-hoc document scanning to SharePoint and works well with Kodak’s
market-leading lineup of document scanners such as the KODAK SCANMATE i1120 Scanner or the KODAK i2400 Scanner. The
software also provides support for TWAIN compliant capture devices.
Equally important, Scan and View Software extends the preview and search capabilities of the Document Viewer Software through
several additional capabilities that operate seamlessly in SharePoint. An enhanced search function provides users with the ability to
search for specific document metadata, yielding pinpointed search results. The software also works to improve collaboration and
business workflow process with tools that enable users to annotate, stamp and highlight specific documents. Scan and View
Software simplifies the time consuming task of reformatting files, with single-click tools that rearrange and remove pages, and
split and merge documents. Users can edit and enhance documents in SharePoint environments with tools such as border
removal, page de-skewing, and image cleanup.
KODAK Document Viewer and Scan and View Software support strategic business and IT priorities. Documents used with Document
Viewer and Scan and View Software remain in SharePoint environments, creating a consistent and constant audit trail for paper-
based documents. To minimize impact on network bandwidth, the document preview function runs completely in a web browser,
eliminating the need for large file downloads and system memory for programs and applications. The software programs’ server-
based installation also simplifies IT workload and maintenance.
Finally, the new KODAK Document Viewer and Scan and View Software are fully complementary to KODAK Capture Pro Software,
which offers functionality that easily goes beyond ad hoc scanning and can automate metadata capture. Capture Pro Software is
designed to work seamlessly with both SharePoint 2007 and 2010.
“The new software programs are an important development for Kodak’s Document Imaging business, our partners and our customers,”
said Tony Barbeau, General Manager, Document Imaging, Kodak’s Business Solutions and Services Group. “They demonstrate our
intent and ability to deliver specific improvements for IT- and services-led systems, such as SharePoint, enabling organizations to do
more with images and information to improve processes, foster business growth, and increase profits.”
KODAK Document Viewer Software and KODAK Scan and View Software will be available beginning in May of 2011. Availability will
vary by geographic location. For more information about KODAK Document Viewer Software and KODAK Scan and View Software,

“Kodak continues pushing the envelope to enable document-intensive organizations to achieve more at the point of capture—automatically
with intelligent features for pre-defining scanning into Web email clients and MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT Servers, and
image enhancement—empowering them to invigorate workflows to easily process and use information, improving customer service and
facilitating business growth,” said Tony Barbeau, General Manager, Document Imaging, Kodak’s Business Solutions and Services
Group. “Desktop, distributed scanning is the fastest growing segment in our industry, offering significant productivity gains for users.
Customer research shows end users are adopting broader client/server architectures, which places further emphasis for desktop
scanners to provide efficient and intelligent image processing. The i2000 Series Scanners deliver on this need in an easy-to-use
package that provides quick return on investment.”
The i2000 Series Scanners are available in three models—all duplex—which provide performance levels to meet the information capture needs
of small, medium and large businesses:
· The KODAK i2400 Scanner features speeds up to 30 ppm with a recommended daily volume of 2,000 scans.
· The KODAK i2600 Scanner delivers up to 50 ppm with a recommended daily volume of 4,000 scans.

KODAK Capture Pro Software Network Edition
Capture Pro Software Network Edition makes it more efficient and cost effective to deploy Capture Pro Software across an enterprise, where
there is a need to centrally manage and monitor multiple capture and indexing stations. The Network Edition comprises three separate product
components:
· KODAK Capture Pro Server Software
· KODAK Capture Pro Software Output Server Module
· KODAK Capture Pro Client Software
At the heart of any Network Edition implementation, Capture Pro Server Software enables centralized licensing and administration, as well as
batch monitoring. Capture Pro Client Software brings all the power of the current Capture Pro Software to a client workstation without the need
for a hardware key at the workstation. The optional Capture Pro Software Output Server Module includes multiple deployment options, which
help users to off-load batch processing to different servers and increase their overall scanning efficiency.
“The network version of Capture Pro is a robust low maintenance solution that allows configuration of jobs to be synchronized across all

the networked version allows greater contingency in the event of any local PC failure and features such as batch reporting have proved to be
of real use. Choosing Capture Pro and moving forward with Kodak as a supplier has been a feature of the continued growth and success of
our business."
KODAK Capture Pro Software, v3.0
Capture Pro Software, v3.0 provides customers with close integration to MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT Server (2007 and 2010 versions). A new
MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT Server set-up wizard greatly improves the ease, speed and accuracy with which customers can import existing
MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT Server library column definitions directly into Capture Pro, reducing set-up errors and enabling better data integrity.
Comprehensive support and compatibility for third-party content management software enables Capture Pro Software to also serve as an

Software and these systems assists businesses to more efficiently process and distribute digital documents and metadata to specific locations.
Capture Pro Software, v3.0 also introduces Kodak’s Intelligent Quality Control (QC) capability, an image quality control and enhancement tool,
which can automatically identify images with challenging noise characteristics that may need additional adjustments. A simple, but powerful post-
scanning quality control tool makes it easy to re-process those images, even when the original source document is not available, providing more
consistent results across a range of input sources. All of this allows customers to improve downstream data recognition processes and human
image readability, and thus helps to speed up important business processes.
The new Intelligent QC, SHAREPOINT Server integration and other advanced capabilities of Capture Pro Software, v3.0 allow end users to
easily scan, index and extract data from paper-based documents. Capture Pro Software also readily prepares these scanned images for use in
business processes related to storage, organization and preservation.
Capture Pro Software fits easily into a wide range of capture environments, from departmental to production batch- and transaction-level
workflows, and interfaces seamlessly with numerous document scanners from many different vendors. Typical scenarios include accounts
receivable departments for small-to-medium sized businesses (SMBs), claims processing departments in insurance companies, or back-file
conversion for service bureau providers.
“We’re committed to helping our customers implement easy-to-use, accurate, and cost-effective ways to transform documents and information
for immediate use into collaborative, digital environments such as MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT Server 2007 and 2010,” said Tony Barbeau,
General Manager, Document Imaging, Kodak’s Business Solutions and Services Group. “As more businesses, from small to medium to large,
incorporate MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT Server for information management processes, whether as part of a larger ECM deployment or as a
standalone, all are looking for convenience and straightforwardness to shorten complex information capture processes.”

most competitive selections of mid-to-high volume production capture devices designed to handle mixed batches
seamlessly, delivering true productivity in real-world environments.
“With no end in sight to the tremendous growth of documents and unstructured data, businesses increasingly
require the type of technologies that advance how their individuals use and manage critical information,” said
Tony Barbeau, Vice President, Marketing, Business Solutions and Services, Eastman Kodak Company. “Input
from our customers, partners and industry peers helped Kodak develop an entire series of innovative document
scanners whose impressive combination of advanced image processing capabilities and superior throughput
productivity will define the next age in mid-to-high volume production capture.”
Rapid scanning capabilities and a robust design lead to more reliable document handling. These features, when
coupled with Kodak’s advanced image processing, enhance how businesses can address the challenge of
unstructured documents and information. According to a study from AIIM, unstructured records in the form of
statements, receipts and invoices account for 80 percent of all business information. This statistic steadily grows
at an annual rate of 36 percent.
Aided by the automated image correction features of Kodak’s Perfect Page Image Processing Technology, the
i700 Series Scanners deliver digital images with precise accuracy and quality, often better than the original paper
document. This superior level of performance enables users to utilize optical character recognition (OCR) and
other intelligent detection features, significantly cutting down on document processing time and costs.
Gartner Research, in its 2009 outlook of top strategic technologies for business, predicts that tools that allow users
to make faster, better and more informed decisions will be particularly valuable in a difficult business environment.
To maintain a reliable, uninterrupted workflow, the i730 and i750 Scanners offer throughput speeds of 90 ppm and
115 ppm, respectively. Automated feeding technology reduces manual document sorting, making it easy to capture
mixed batches of documents, photos and tear sheets for processing, archiving and sharing. At rated speed, the i700

KODAK i780 Scanner Accelerates Speed and Performance for Mid-
Volume Production Scanning
Rochester, NY, January 29 -- Racing stripes are not included, but consider the new KODAK i780 Scanner a
performance tuned vehicle that any business can use to drive mission critical document processes and meet its
core demands in real time. Improved accuracy and productivity allows documents to be captured at optimal
speed with exceptional image quality and ease of use.
Current business demands, driven by increased information-based processes and a need to meet heightened
government regulations, require that critical information be pulled from a wide range of documents and sources.
With a set of market leading features, the KODAK i780 Scanner allows its users to aggressively meet the rapidly
escalating requirements of production level, intelligent information capture, making it a natural choice for forms
processing operations.
“The KODAK i780 Scanner elevates mid-volume production scanning by making it efficient for end users to obtain
real, usable data with every scan regardless of a document’s original quality or structure,” said Tony Barbeau,
Director of Scanner Business, Document Imaging, Graphic Communications Group, Eastman Kodak Company.
“The combination of competitive performance features, including full compatibility with MICROSOFT WINDOWS
operating systems 2000 SP4, XP SP2 and VISTA 32-bit, with Kodak’s advanced image processing and paper
handling, provides businesses with a precision tool to cut through the clutter.”
Document throughput provides image capture speeds up to 130 pages per minute (ppm) and image resolution up
to 300 dots per inch (dpi) at rated speed, in color, grayscale and black-and-white, in dual stream mode and with
all advanced features enabled. This performance raises the bar for mid-volume production scanning standards,
further enhancing return on investment.
The i780 Scanner provides cutting edge image processing features to deliver outstanding image quality:
Automatic orientation based on document content, saving labor and time required for presorting.
Perfect Page image processing technologies for optimal image quality with readability equal to or better than the
original native document.
Auto color detection for automatic color scanning.
Electronic color dropout eliminates the form color and captures only the information needed for processing.
Auto cropping captures only the actual document and straightens every image and page to avoid distorted
processing.
Five output options meet virtually all imaging requirements—black-and-white, color or grayscale, plus two dual
stream options, color and black and white, or grayscale and black and white.
Versatile paper handling through Kodak’s SurePath technology provides the flexibility to easily scan mixed batches
of business documents, photo prints, tear sheets and graphics—from 2½ inches by 2 ½ inches to 12 inches by
34 inches. An ultrasonic multi-feed paper detection system ensure that all documents and their content are
captured by recognizing labels, stick-on notes and stuck together documents.
Rounding out image processing and paper handling performance is the i780 Scanner’s compatibility with
available KODAK Capture Software, which offers many additional features including OCR and Barcode
recognition, more than 40 different output formats, versatile batch scanning solutions, digital signature capabilities,
and other useful production features.
The i780 Scanner has a U.S. list price of $39,995 and is available for immediate delivery from Kodak’s channel
partners.

Imaging, Graphic Communications Group and Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company. “The KODAK i1400
Series Scanners meet the challenges that SMBs face by offering exceptional speed, new image processing
capabilities, and ease of use.”
The i1400 Series Scanners include three models. The simplex KODAK i1410 Scanner and duplex KODAK i1420
Scanner have recommended daily volumes of 7,500 pages per day. The duplex KODAK i1440 Scanner handles
up to 10,000 pages per day and features additional image processing capabilities. The i1420 and i1440 Scanners
are the first in their respective classes to include a document imprinter to print tracking information directly onto
documents as they pass through the scanner, even while running at top scanning speeds. Post-scan printers
are typically expensive optional accessories.
A USB 2.0 interface provides easy connectivity and fast image transfer for all i1400 Series Scanners. A built-in
“smart touch” feature delivers intuitive operation by enabling users to easily handle scanning tasks, including
scan to email, printers or other desktop applications. Users can preview and edit images, including zoom, rotate,
and crop, before sending. With nine pre-set shortcuts, users can simply point and click to accomplish everyday
scanning tasks. In addition, users can easily modify any of the shortcuts to create their own custom setups.
The KODAK i1400 Series Scanners accept a wide range of mixed documents, from onionskin to card stock in
sizes from small cards to materials approximately 11.5 inches in width (A3) and up to 34 long. The scanners use
Kodak’s Sure Path paper handling with three-dimensional ultrasonic multi-feed detection. They can scan up to
75 pages per minutes and feature five output options, including Kodak’s exclusive dual stream output for
simultaneous bi-tonal and grayscale or bi-tonal and color.
All i1400 Series Scanners are bundled with KODAK Capture Software Lite, a powerful application that allows
productive batch scanning and output to a variety of file types and complements Kodak’s Perfect Page
technologies for image processing.
With Kodak’s Perfect Page technologies for image processing, which include automatic color detection,
de-skew, blank image detection, and iThresholding, these scanners deliver several new image-enhancing
features such as:

printing of documents and photos, using average ink costs of comparable consumer inkjet printers. Actual
results may vary.
“Kodak is revolutionizing home printing and our printers are receiving resounding support from consumers,”
said Michael Korizno, General Manager for the Americas Consumer Digital Group, Vice President of Kodak.
“We’re excited to be able to expand product availability with a market leader such as Office Depot.”

“The new Kodak printing system is an ideal solution for consumers who are looking for quality and performance
at an excellent value,” said Scott Koerner, Senior Vice President of Merchandising for Office Depot. “This
service provides customers with another choice when it comes to purchasing ink for the home or office.”
The exclusive KODACOLOR technology integrated in KODAK EASYSHARE All-in-One inkjet printers is a

and Kodak’s long-standing experience in color and photo technology. This combination ensures excellent
results for all printouts, be it text, graphics, or photos with vibrant colors.
Office Depot customers will enjoy the above savings as compared to other consumer inkjet systems for all types
of printouts, with manufacturer suggested pricing of $9.99 for black ink cartridges and $14.99 for five-ink color

Kodak Helps Napa Valley Wineries Fight Wine Fraud
Rochester, N.Y., June 1 - Eager to address the growing threat posed by producers of imitation wines, several
of Napa Valley’s most prestigious wineries have moved to employ a new high tech anticounterfeiting technology
from Kodak to protect their brands and customers. The KODAK Security Solution provides confidence and
assurance to Colgin Cellars, HL Vineyards, Vineyard 29 and Staglin Family Vineyard by allowing easy authentication
of their products.
According to industry experts, counterfeit wine could affect as much as 5 percent of wines sold in secondary
markets.
"Wine fraud is a rising problem that threatens to seriously damage the premium wine industry," said Steve Powell,
General Manager & Director, Security Solutions, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. "These industry leaders
are taking proactive steps to address the problem now. Kodak’s proprietary anticounterfeiting technology gives
users a covert, easy to implement, cost effective, and long lasting solution for defending their products and
reputations."
Ann Colgin, owner of Colgin Cellars, immediately recognized the value that Kodak’s solution could deliver in
protecting her super premium vintages, which sell at auction for hundreds of dollars a bottle.
"While Colgin Cellars has not experienced any problems with counterfeit wine, the issue has concerned me for
some time. As a vintner and an auctioneer, I felt it was necessary to take a stand and ensure my customers a
guarantee of authenticity." said Colgin. "Kodak worked closely with me to quickly develop and implement a
solution that met my demanding production schedule. Within 45 days, Kodak evaluated solution options,
conducted a pilot test, delivered a proposal, and implemented a solution that protects Colgin Cellars products."
The time is right for protecting premium wines said Shari Staglin of Staglin Family Vineyard.
"Our wines are enjoyed by customers around the world. The recent recognition by the EEU of the Napa Valley
name and brand makes it even more important we offer our customers the protection afforded by the KODAK
solution to ensure the integrity of the Staglin Family Vineyard brand and label," explained Staglin.
The KODAK anticounterfeiting technology uses invisible markers that can be added to printing inks, paper and
other packaging elements, and are detectable only with proprietary handheld readers. The readers are leased
to customers and delivered in tamperproof packaging. The system prevents counterfeiters from duplicating
product packaging.
"This system enables us to quickly and easily determine if a suspect bottle is authentic or fake," said Jennifer
Lamb, Owner, HL Vineyards. "Our passion for winemaking and our vineyard is driving us to vigorously address
the issue of wine fraud. The KODAK solution fits our needs because it’s simple yet robust. We’re excited to be
one of the first in our industry to use it and we hope others will employ similar protections."
For winemakers with unique bottling methods, the KODAK solution can be adapted to fit their product
specifications. Chuck McMinn, Owner, Vineyard 29, appreciates the technology’s flexibility.
"At Vineyard 29, our label information is silk screened directly on the bottle," explained McMinn. "Kodak was
quick to adapt their technology to our specific needs. Our anticounterfeiting solution does not interfere with the
process we use to bottle our wines it only enhances the product by ensuring the authenticity of our wines to our
customers."
KODAK Security Solutions include a growing portfolio of security features that can be incorporated into a vast
range of products, materials and documents to deliver unparalleled protection against counterfeiting and diversion.
Kodak is already working with customers in a wide range of other industries affected by counterfeiting, including
pharmaceuticals, apparel, cosmetics and identification documents. For more information about KODAK Security
Solutions visit www.kodak.com/go/security.
Kodak will exhibit its security solutions at VinExpo in Bordeaux, France, June 17-21 in booth 5H in Marketers by

Duplex Scanner Offers Improved Bitonal and Color Performance,
Faster Scanning Speeds, Autocrop, and Deskew
ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 8, 2003 - Ideal for business departments with a wide variety of document capture,
publishing, and archiving needs, Eastman Kodak Company's Commercial Imaging Components group today
introduced the new Kodak i80 Scanner-the latest in its family of departmental scanners-available in late summer
2003.
The duplex i80 Scanner offers improved bitonal and color performance with the convenience of simultaneously
capturing both sides of a document in a single pass. This makes it twice as productive as a simplex scanner for
dual-sided applications. With a suggested retail list price of $2,700, the i80 Scanner offers true duplex scanning
speed with color quality that rivals more expensive models.
Recommended for departmental document imaging applications, the i80 Scanner captures documents, photos,
and color graphics at speeds up to 35 pages per minute (ppm), with a true duplex speed of 70 images per minute
(ipm). Color images are captured at 20 ppm and 20 ipm at 150 dpi. Deskew and autocrop features, enabled with
Kodak Capture Software, work with both dark and light document backgrounds for exceptional scans and
improved OCR read rates. The i80 Scanner's document feeder handles up to 75 sheets at a time, in a wide
range of sizes and weights, which eliminates the need for presorting. In addition, the scanner features a built-in
flatbed for scanning exception documents.
The i80 Scanner is an expansion of Kodak's current line of departmental scanners, which includes the i50
and i60 Scanner models introduced in 2001. While built on the same platform as the i50 and i60 Scanners,
the i80 Scanner offers both duplex features and faster color and bitonal speeds, resulting in a 40 percent
increase in product performance.
Each scanner model has an automatic document feeder that allows operators to load a mixed batch of
documents and handles peak volumes up to 1,500 pages per day. In addition, the i50, i60, and i80 Scanners
feature bundled ISIS(r) and TWAIN drivers as well as application software for document management, text
recognition, and photo management.
"The new i80 Scanner demonstrates Kodak's commitment to the departmental market," said Susan Cardot,
director, marketing and sales, U.S. and Canada, Kodak's Commercial Imaging Components group. "Kodak's long
history of producing leading-edge capture products, combined with its award-winning global service and support
team, ensure that we'll continue to meet customer needs as we expand our presence in this market."

Kodak Adds New Image Quality Features To i800 Series Scanners
Kodak Adds New Image Quality Features To i800 Series Scanners iThresholding Improves Total Performance
In High Speed Scanning
ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 24, 2003 - Kodak has added iThresholding, a feature that automatically adjusts
bitonal brightness and contrast for scanned documents, to its i800 Series Scanners. An enhancement to
Kodak's Perfect Page Scanning, iThresholding is an on-board solution for bitonal applications that reduces
the need for presorting, rescans and post-image processing by automatically adjusting for highlighting, low
contrast and lightweight paper - situations that previously required manual adjustments.
Perfect Page Scanning with iThresholding captures images and optimizes them at full processing speed.
Edges are sharp, images are deskewed and borders removed without loss of information. And, in many cases,
because images are cleaner, file sizes are smaller. "Customers have expressed a need to reduce pre-sorting
of mixed documents of varying contrasts and backgrounds," said Lois Powell, worldwide portfolio business
manager, Commercial Imaging. "With iThresholding, customers are able to improve the conversion of images
from grayscale to bitonal with outstanding legibility of text and lines - minimizing unneeded markings and shaded
areas."
This is the first time that iThresholding has been available on Kodak's highest-speed scanners.
iThresholding was added to the company's mid-range Kodak Digital Science(tm) 3520 Scanner in January.
"Color on the fly" is also new to the i820 and i840 Scanners. Customers can choose to scan the majority
of their documents either in bitonal or color with the option to switch back and forth quickly and easily. "Color
on the fly" is being achieved with the use of a toggle patch, which is also available on the Kodak Digital
Science(tm) 3590C Scanner. "The toggle patch has been such a popular feature that our i800 Series customers
were asking us to make it available for their use. Responding to those requests, we added this easy-to-use
functionality on the i800 Series," said Powell.
A further enhancement to the i800 Series is a new Brightness and Contrast Control feature that allows
customers to choose the best color output for the application. Customers can use the default color tables
provided, or create and save an infinite number of customized tables.
An upgrade kit that includes iThresholding, "color on the fly" and the Brightness and Contrast Control is
available through imaging resellers.
According to Powell, "the new features that we've added to the i800 Series Scanners, provide scanner
operators with even more opportunities to optimize performance of their scanners, which in turn provides greater
productivity within document management operations."
The Kodak i800 Series Scanners are high-speed, high volume production scanners with an unlimited
recommended daily volume. The scanners feature SurePath paper handling for fast, streamlined, jam-free
document feeding, 3-D multi-feed detection and Kodak's proprietary Tricolor Plus CCD sensor, which enables
bitonal or color scanning at high resolution and high speed. The i800 Series Scanners are backed by
Kodak Service and Support.
