Step Out in Style: Gateway’s Colorful Notebooks Make a Fashion
Statement
Irvine, CA - Gateway today gives two of its most popular consumer notebook lines - the Gateway M-Series
(15.4-inch display) and T-Series (14.1-inch display) - a fresh look with new vibrant colors and designs.
The Gateway M-Series, which was previously available in Garnet Red and Pacific Blue, is now available in rich
Merlot and luminous Silver. Both the M-Series and T-Series will be available in a new design called Arctic Bloom -
delicate wildflowers on a background of icy turquoise blue.
"Our customers responded so well to the jewel-toned colors we introduced last fall that we’re expanding the
line to offer customers even more choices in a PC that reflects their individuality and tastes," said Todd Titera,
Gateway senior manager, notebook PCs. "These new colors - Merlot, Silver and especially Arctic Bloom -
have their own unique personality to please the fashion conscious and style-minded."
Gateway used its new InFuse process to inject the color and designs into the notebooks, giving them a striking,
rich metallic finish. The color and graphics are then sealed in with a smooth, lustrous finish that has a high-
quality appearance.
Further benefiting the customer, notebooks purchased with the new colors will not be subject to a price premium
or longer sales lead time, as is typical of many systems with unique designs.
These colors appear even more impressive and vibrant when combined with the M-Series and T-Series’ eye-
catching industrial design. In addition to the high-gloss InFuse finish, the notebooks feature treatments such
as a unique aluminum keyboard surround surface, slimming metal profiling and deluxe trims.
The high-style look and feel is a perfect complement to the performance and features in the notebook lines.
These systems boast fast Intel processors, ample memory and vast hard drive storage. Above each notebook’s
keyboard is a brushed-metal multimedia control panel, featuring smooth-cut keys providing convenient access
to frequently-used audio and video functions such as play, stop, fast-forward and rewind. Volume can be
controlled with a touch-sensitive slide. The large widescreen designs (15.4-inch on M-Series, 14.1-inch on T-
series) are great for viewing DVD movies and browsing the Internet.
The notebook models come with a range of technology for staying connected, including Wi-fi wireless and a
standard integrated web-cam for video conferencing and video emails. Select models come with integrated
Bluetooth technology, so customers can wirelessly connect to peripherals such as a printer, mobile phone,
keyboard and mouse.
Sporting the latest technology, the notebooks offer high-definition video and audio. An HDMI interface is
available on select models and lets consumers connect their notebook to a display device (TV, monitor) to
view applications, games, digital media content, as well as high-definition video and audio through a single
connection. Several models feature an integrated fingerprint reader, which can be used for user authentication,
data protection and as a password-bank.
Each of the models comes with Genuine Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium and MS Works 9.0.

Gateway Announces Plans to Acquire Packard Bell B.V.
Irvine, CA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gateway, Inc. (NYSE:GTW) today announced that it has delivered a binding
offer to acquire all of the shares of PB Holding Company S.à.r.l. from Lap Shun (John) Hui and Clifford Holdings
Limited, an entity controlled by Hui. Hui currently owns a 75 percent interest in PB Holding, the parent company
of Packard Bell B.V., a leading European PC vendor based in Paris.
Under the terms of the binding offer delivered by Gateway to Hui and Clifford dated October 4, 2007, the parties
have agreed to work together in consultation with the Works Councils in France and the Netherlands and to
secure antitrust and other regulatory approvals required for the signing and closing of the transaction. Hui and
Clifford have also agreed to exclusivity arrangements and to exercise certain drag-along rights relating to the
remaining outstanding shares of PB Holding.
Acer Inc. has agreed to fund Gateway’s acquisition of PB Holding and Packard Bell in connection with the
planned merger between Acer and Gateway announced on Aug. 27, 2007.
Gateway had previously announced that it would exercise its right of first refusal to acquire Hui’s indirect
interest in Packard Bell. Gateway acquired the right of first refusal as part of a June 2006 agreement with Hui
that waived certain non-compete arrangements in connection with his purchase of Packard Bell. Hui sold the
privately-held eMachines, Inc. to Gateway in March 2004.
This transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is anticipated to close sometime in the fourth quarter of
2007 or the first quarter of 2008.

Gateway to Sell Professional Business Segment to MPC Corporation
Irvine, Calif., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway, Inc. (NYSE: GTW) today announced that it has
signed a definitive agreement to sell its Professional business segment, including the company's Nashville-based
configuration center, to MPC Corporation (AMEX: MPZ). The transaction, valued at approximately $90 million
based on MPC's closing price on Sept. 4, 2007, is subject to regulatory approval and is anticipated to close early
in the fourth quarter.
"Gateway is widely recognized as a leading consumer brand and this enables us to concentrate our efforts on
our worldwide consumer channels," said Ed Coleman, Gateway's CEO. "While our performance in the highly
competitive Professional segment has improved, we believe a more focused approach on the largest segment
of our business is in the best interests of investors and consumers alike."
With double digit-share of the U.S. consumer PC market, and an even stronger share of the retail channel,
Gateway embarked on a consumer focused strategy early this year. The sale of its Professional business will
simplify the existing business model and enable greater emphasis on growing the company's overall consumer
business, both in the U.S. and internationally.
"This is yet another step in maximizing the importance of Gateway's powerful foundation as a consumer brand,"
continued Coleman. "Coupled with continued product innovation and a strong presence in retail and direct
channels, this enables us to further drive a strategy that sharpens our focus, not only in the U.S. but abroad as well."
Gateway's Professional business targets businesses, government agencies and educational institutions. Once
the deal closes, a significant portion of Gateway's Professional employees will join MPC and continue to work
out of the North Sioux City, SD facility. MPC will assume Gateway's ownership in its final assembly facility (GCC)
located in Nashville, Tenn., and will take full responsibility for this facility, including the assembly of Gateway
Professional products produced there. MPC will also acquire the portion of Gateway's Consumer Direct unit that
targets businesses with less than 100 employees.
The combination of Gateway Professional and MPC will greatly benefit existing Professional employees and
customers. In joining with MPC, Gateway Professional will become part of a business that is dedicated to the
unique and specialized requirements of professional customers. For these customers, Gateway's portfolio of
award-winning Professional products will be augmented by MPC's products and services. MPC will continue to
offer Gateway Professional products to ensure product stability for Professional customers, however, the product
branding will be migrated from the Gateway brand to the MPC brand within a year.
"We believe that the customers of MPC and Gateway's Professional business will benefit greatly from this
combination," said John P. Yeros, Chairman and CEO of MPC Corporation. "The new company will be totally
focused on the markets of government, education, and small-and-medium business, and will develop products
and services to meet the specific needs of these customers."
As part of the transaction, MPC will assume responsibility for all operations and warranty support associated with
Gateway's Professional business, valued at approximately $60 million. In addition, Gateway will invest
approximately $10 million in MPC in the form of a note issuance tied to excess inventory at the GCC. Gateway
will receive a 19.9% equity stake in MPC Corporation at the close of the transaction. As part of the transaction,
Gateway will take an impairment charge of approximately $16 million predominantly related to IT assets associated
with the Professional business. The final numbers will be determined upon the close of this transaction.
Gateway's Professional business generated $75 million in gross margin dollars over the past four quarters
(Q3 2006 -- Q2 2007). As a result of the sale of its Professional business, assuming it closes, Gateway expects
that it will be able to streamline its total SG&A by $130 million to $150 million annually, following a transition period
and its attendant costs.
"On behalf of the Gateway Board and management team, I'd like to thank our Professional employees for their
hard work and commitment over the years," said Coleman. "I'd also like to thank our Professional customers for
their loyalty to Gateway, and believe that the combination of Gateway Professional and MPC will result in a highly-
focused organization that can better compete and thrive in this competitive segment."

Gateway Notebooks Are Number One in Customer Satisfaction Poll for
Third Consecutive Quarter
Irvine, Calif., Aug. 29 - Gateway, Inc. today announced that it has earned the top spot in Technology Business
Research's (TBR) Corporate IT Buying Behavior and Customer Satisfaction Study for Corporate Notebooks in
the second quarter of 2007. This is the third consecutive quarter that Gateway has occupied TBR's top spot for
notebooks.
For the past three reporting periods, the company was also ranked number one in customer satisfaction for its
corporate desktops. Leading customer satisfaction scores in TBR's studies for both corporate notebooks and
desktops show that Gateway's investment in purely North American technical support for U.S. customers is being
rewarded. According to the recent TBR report, it is the quality of Gateway's customer relationships that largely
contributed to its status.
Gateway's mean satisfaction positions continue to set new records. In spite of industry-wide shortages, Gateway
rated significantly higher than the industry average in replacement parts availability and ease of doing business.
Customer loyalty improved substantially and scores for phone support, notebook value, delivery and repair time
remained stable.
"Customer care is a top priority at Gateway," said Ed Coleman, Gateway chief executive officer. "We're very
pleased that customers continue to appreciate our high standards for quality and service. It is our goal to
continually exceed our customer's expectations with progressive process improvements designed to deliver
high quality products in a timely, professional manner."
"Of all players, Gateway's performance has improved most significantly and its momentum continues to build,"
said Julie Perron, Technology Business Research manager of primary research. "Gateway has established an
excellent reputation for customer service, a particularly notable achievement considering its corporate customers
have the industry's highest expectations."

point sends a message to both consumers and retailers: pay attention to this system, because Gateway means
business in expanding the enthusiast sector," said John Spindler, research analyst, Current Analysis. "The
value proposition of the Gateway FX Series is astounding when we compare it to similarly configured systems;
in some instances, it has an incredible $1,000 price/performance advantage."
In addition, Gateway will be offering its unique Portable Media Drive Kit in retail outlets, expanding the availability
of Gateway-branded accessories in consumer electronics stores. The 120GB Portable Media Drive will be
available May 1, and will work in Gateway's mainstream desktop PC line, which includes the matching bay.
"Expanding our product offerings in retail has been an important element in Gateway's strategy," said John
Schindler, director of consumer products for Gateway. "By introducing unique and competitively priced products
such as the FX Series of quad-core desktops and our Gateway Portable Media Drive, we are strengthening
our brand and delivering compelling solutions to our retail customer set."
Bringing Affordability to PCs with the Most Extreme Power and Cutting-Edge Graphics Capabilities Available
The Gateway FX line for retail customers is equipped with Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q6600 processors, 512MB
ATI Radeon® X1950 CrossFire™ video cards, Gigabit Ethernet, and 1,000GB or 500GB of hard drive storage(1).
Prices for Gateway's retail FX line start at an MSRP of $2,099.99.
Digital enthusiasts will especially appreciate the enormous storage for managing large digital photo and video
libraries. The powerful ATI GPU is ideal for playing and authoring high-definition digital video, and gamers will
find their online game playing experience more realistic and responsive than ever.
"We've seen tremendous demand over the phone and web for our quad-core desktop line," said Schindler.
"But many PC shoppers still like to purchase computers from their local retailer, and to date, the only choices
available for a quad-core system have been extremely expensive propositions from boutique specialists. As a
major manufacturer with proven success in this space, we are bringing to market a much more affordable, yet
still powerful system, greatly expanding their options."
Gateway Portable Media Drive Simplifies Transferring or Backing Up Data
With an estimated selling price of $149.99, the Gateway Portable Media Drive kit includes a pre-formatted
2.5-inch 120GB PATA hard drive(1) and a protective sleeve to guard against dings and scratches. A custom
USB cable with a double headed end supports both USB 2.0 and USB 1.1, without the need for an a/c
adapter. Color coded ends make it easy to determine which end should be used for data transference or for
connecting to a power source.
The Gateway Portable Media drive is now available in major retail outlets including Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA and American TV.

Gateway Enhances Server Line With an Entry-Level Tower Powered by
AMD, Redefining Value and Performance
IRVINE, Calif., March 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Redefining the feature set of a value server, the Gateway®
E-9232T gives customers a choice of powerful AMD processors and several advanced technologies not typically
available in an entry-level server.
Powered by either a dual-core AMD Opteron 1000 Series processor or a single-core AMD Athlon 64 processor
3500+, the E-9232T also includes Gateway Lights Out (GLO) system management, optional remote keyboard/
video/mouse (K/V/M) technology, integrated RAID support and optional hot-swappable redundant power supplies.
Its low price point and compelling technologies make it an affordable, yet powerful server that can help small-
and medium-sized businesses run efficiently and securely.
Recent IDC research (LANs and Servers in US SMBs(1)) noted that many small and medium-sized organizations
are still using traditional desktops, despite the growing popularity of local networks. "Even with the appeal of the
latest network technology, the lack of full-time IT staff can make it hard for smaller companies to step up to the
investment," said Ray Boggs, vice president for SMB research IDC. "The availability and affordability of new
servers like the E-9232T can provide a powerful alternative to desktop approaches, letting smaller firms gain
access to network capabilities for the first time."
Additionally, small- and medium-sized businesses running Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS) will find it an
ideal platform to run all their office tasks. It has the power and features necessary to easily handle Internet,
networking and productivity applications such as email, file and print sharing and financial or database programs.
"Server technology is not just for large companies with big budgets and dedicated IT staff," said Steven
VanRoekel, director of the Windows Server Solutions group at Microsoft. "With Windows Small Business
Server 2003 R2 on the new Gateway E-9232T, customers will be able to cost-effectively boost their productivity
and better ensure system security."
Failing technology can be disastrous for small businesses which operate in a retail environment. NetSolace, an
independent software vendor specializing in point-of-sale solutions for a vast majority of the nation's franchises,
exclusively uses Gateway tower servers for their customers' installations. NetSolace uses Gateway business
class servers instead of high-end desktops due to their high-reliability and affordability. Combined with Gateway's
four-hour on-site support(2), NetSolace is assured their customers' operations are running at peak efficiency,
cost-effectively, and that their data is well protected.
Powerful Technologies Redefine Value and Raise the Bar for Others
Powered by either an AMD Opteron dual-core or Athlon single-core processor, the Gateway E-9232T brings true
server performance and advanced capabilities to the value category.
"Our relationship with AMD has allowed us to develop another compelling server with leading technologies,"
said Marc Tanguay, Gateway senior group manager, servers and storage. "With excellent performance and
advanced system management, the E-9232T offers benefits typically not found in an entry-level system."
Bringing a high level of efficiency to IT departments, Gateway Lights Out (GLO) system management allows
customers to remotely shut down and re-start their server regardless of power condition. An optional low-cost
remote control K/V/M with media redirect features enables IT managers to take full remote control of a server.
Customers will also find leading serviceability features such as color-coded components and a tool-less chassis
and motherboard, making the product easy to support and deploy.
Nicely equipped but with room to grow, the server features dual integrated 10/100/1000 GbE NICs and video;
five PCI slots; and DDR2 unbuffered ECC memory with four sockets, providing memory capacity of up to 8GB.
Highly expansive with room for four 3.5-inch hard disk drives, it has a storage capacity of up to 3.0TB with
SATA II drives(3). Integrated SATA RAID 1, 5 and 10 offers greater redundancy and integrity.
"Providing the widest variety of computing options to infrastructure providers and end customers, Gateway has
leveraged the performance and value benefits of the AMD Opteron and AMD Athlon 64 processors to help
small and medium sized businesses run applications more efficiently while helping provide enterprise developers
with low-cost, dedicated systems," said Pat Patla, director, Server/Workstation Division, AMD. "By making
the choice to expand its AMD offerings to include rack-mount and now tower servers, we believe Gateway
has enhanced its server line in the right direction."

New Gateway NAS Servers Provide Simple Solutions for Data Storage
and Backup
Irvine, CA, March 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway today announced five new Network Attached Storage
(NAS) devices featuring Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 and a choice of Intel® Xeon® processors
or AMD Opteron processors.
As organizations consolidate and back up their data and centralize their file and print functions, quick and easy
deployment has become a critical and decisive factor for many IT managers and business owners. Preconfigured
for simple plug and play installation, Gateway's new rack mount storage servers provide seamless integration into
existing storage configurations, allowing customers to get up and running quickly. The new models are the
E-9422R; E-9425R, E-9522R, E-9525R and the E-9520T Storage Servers.
NAS servers can act as file servers hosting files or as local print servers. They're ideal for any environment
requiring end-users to continually access and share documents that are stored and safeguarded in a central,
highly protected environment vs. a personal desktop. This includes hospital personnel accessing medical files
or educational institutions, which require students to save their lessons to a central server, so teachers can
easily access their schoolwork.
"We are seeing increased demand for networked storage across the board from all of our customer segments,"
said Barry Silvester, senior product manager, Enterprise Storage Platforms. "These five new storage servers
give our customers powerful yet easy-to-use solutions for all their data storage needs. Their affordability makes
them particularly attractive, especially when you consider the benefits they offer."
Organizations such as the Poway Unified School District in Poway, Calif., are experiencing the benefits of
Gateway storage products. The district recently chose to deploy Gateway storage platforms as part of a disaster
recovery solution for its elementary and middle schools, as well as its administrative center. Using this system
helps safeguard the school district from partially or completely interrupted crucial functions, such as daily record
keeping, retrieving critical student information or accessing software applications necessary for the curriculum.
The Gateway solution also provides the IT staff with a means to manage and restore normal operations quickly
and seamlessly if a disaster does occur.
"Gateway's understanding of our operational aspects was essential in finding the right technology to meet our
disaster recovery needs," said Robert J. Gravina, chief technology officer at Poway Unified School District.
"Gateway's disaster recovery solution allows us to maintain business continuity in the event of a disaster, as
well as recover quickly from any disruptions to our fundamental business processes and systems."
Packing numerous high-performance features into their compact rack mount and scalable tower designs, the
servers offer best-in-class storage technologies, including hot swappable high-capacity SATA or SAS hard
drives and redundant hot swappable cooling and power options.
The new storage servers also come equipped with manageability features, including Web-based management
for Windows 2003 Storage Server; Gateway Systems Manager; and Gateway Lights Out (GLO) system
management. GLO brings a high-level of efficiency to professional customers, allowing a server to be remotely
shut down, re-started and managed regardless of its power condition. An optional low-cost remote control
K/V/M with media redirect features enables full remote control of a server. This capability allows customers
to set up, manage or add applications from their desktop, notebook or another server through a floppy disk
drive or CD.
In addition, Gateway Professional Services can help customers plan their storage strategies and identify the
best products and technologies for their business needs.

The M680 is the perfect mobile platform for enterprise customers supporting Gateway's stable hardware and
image programs. In addition, IT departments will appreciate how the M680 and other Gateway notebooks for
professionals reduce long-term costs and platform management by sharing the same components and
accessories like the advanced port replicator, batteries and AC adapters. For example, IT can stock or install
one Gateway AC Adapter in conference rooms and support the entire new family of Gateway notebooks for
professionals. Also, the M680 can be utilized in a range of environments, since it can be customized with a
wide array of features, including processors, memory, hard drives and optical drives.
One of the most dramatic aspects of the Gateway M680 is the PC's high-resolution 17-inch widescreen display.
It accommodates large spreadsheets or multiple applications on the screen simultaneously, allowing
professionals to easily review multiple information sources at once.
"Widescreen format notebooks are increasingly sought after by both businesses and consumers," said Roger
Kay, vice president, client computing, IDC. "These generously sized machines let customers take advantage
of extra screen real estate to view more data at once or enjoy a more compelling digital entertainment
experience."
Another differentiating feature is the notebook's dedicated 10-key numeric key pad that makes it more
convenient for finance, engineering and other professionals to quickly input numerical data.
All of the high-performance features that make Gateway's M680 the ultimate mobile workstation also enable it
to be the premier gaming and entertainment notebook. With high-end 17-inch widescreen panels, the latest in
Intel chipset and processor technologies, and the latest ATI RADEON PCI Express graphics, the M680 is
ideal for games, graphics and DVD movies. Premium features like the latest multi-format DVD/CD burner and a
four-in-one memory card reader give computer users a convenient way to access, store and share digital media.
